Helping Hands was originally founded in 1996 as a Child Care Substitute Service designed to meet the staffing needs of area day-care centers. At the time, I was directing in a Child Care Center and pregnant with our second child. I had been wanting to start a small business that would enable me to spend more time with our children. I had noticed that the chain of child care centers I worked for always had a need for substitute staff, and thus the idea was born. Three months after starting the substitute service, Helping Hands had exploded and was providing substitute child care teachers to over fifty centers in the Wichita metro area. I had to resign from my director's position to focus on Helping Hands full time. Later, in response to the need for quality "in-home" child-care, our nanny placement and sitter service were added. In March of 2003, the service to day-care centers was sold in order to devote all our time to the growing need for both temporary and permanent in-home professional sitters and nannies. As the mother of three young children, I understand how much you love your children and how important it is to provide them with professional, reliable, and loving care
