I have experience caring for special needs children and Elders. I am retired from being a special needs foster parent and respite worker. I have been very active with both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts where I was the fund raising chair person and assistant scout master. In addition to being a State Licensed Foster Parent and Licensed Day Care provider, for three years from 2003-2006 I provided 24 hour a day/direct care for my own grandmother. I provided basic housekeeping as well as personal care (Baths, dressing and other basic care) as well as preparing meals, laundry and physical therapy exercises). I cared for my grandmother for the last three years of her life until she passed in Oct of 2006 at the wonderful age of 91. Those three years were some of the most rewarding years of my life. I feel blessed to of been in a position where I was able to care for my grandmother in the last years of her life providing for her kind, loving care, giving her self respect by allowing her to live at home being cared for by family instead of being in a senior care facility where she would be cared for by strangers living in a facility that was just not ever going to be home. I am attending school with DeVry University in an Online Degree program. This program allows me to be very flexible and work hours as needed through the day or even into the evenings if needed.
