My name is Amanda and I just moved to the Cincinnati area. I have 2.5 years of experience as a day care teacher working with children 5 to 11 years of age. I also was a private nanny for a family with two children, an infant and a toddler.
As a daycare teacher I planned a comprehensive curriculum incorporating all aspects of learning including social, physical, intellectual, cultural, and emotional based learning. As a nanny I focused on basic skills such as color, letter, and number recognition, speech and language development, cause and effect, responsibility, using vocabulary, fostering independence, and encouraging reading. In both nannying and teaching I believe in having a strong influence of the arts and like to use songs, fingerplays, dancing, and crafts as a way to foster and connect learning in a fun way.
I am trained in First Aid, CPR, Communicable Disease, and Child Abuse Recognition. I also have 20 hours in specialized training for school age teachers through the Step Up to Quality program. I have 2 years of education in Spanish, French, and American Sign Language.
