I am from West Chester, Pennsylvania and attend college at Lock Haven University for Early Childhood Education with a minor in Special Education. I love working with children and watching their development increase over a long period of time through social interactions and learning through the environment. I believe in Jean Piaget and Lev Vygotsky when talking about social development through a period of stages in each child's life. Every child is not the same and they each grow at a different rate through personal interactions. As well as loving kids, I enjoy running and participate on the Womens Cross Country and Track and Field Team while I am in school. I believe playing a sport in college teaches you time management and bettering yourself in a nonacademic environment.
Last year I worked for the Valley Forge Military Accademy in a day camp that lasted a few weeks in the summer. I babysat on the side for a few families as well as volunteered on Sunday afternoons to work in the nursery for my local church, Goshen Baptist. I have been volunteering for Goshen in the nursery and help out in the church with their childrens program for six years. I enjoy volunteering around the community in soup kitchens and nursing homes during the week. In college, I am involved with a special education club that volunteers in the special education community serving Thanksgiving dinners and throwing Halloween paries.
I have all of my background checks from doing observations in schools for my college classes. I also have my CPR and First Aid from working at a summer camp last summer. I am very personable person that is very positive and enjoys working with young children. I am a leader on the Womens Cross Country Team as well as in the classroom and in my personal life. I work really hard in school and at work or volunteering because I enjoy being busy.
